Inspiration Board: Americana

With Memorial Day this weekend and Fourth of July coming up, we decided to create an Inspiration Board PERFECT for an Americana themed wedding. Suitable for an outdoor setting, this combination has a rustic appeal.

Inspired by road trips, good old fashioned rock and roll, county fairs, fireworks, barbeques and campfires. Here are wedding ideas to capture the spirit of your American romance.

Bridal Wear

Whether your venue is outdoors in a tent, or even a refurbished barn, you are most likely able to keep the décor low-key given the rich personality of your spot. With the use of Navy and faded denim tones, cherry red and eggshell combined with greenery it will be easy to achieve your visualized theme. Bridal gowns that incorporate lace are PERFECT for rustic and outdoor weddings – even consider a soft and flowy tulle skirt. Ivory, off-white mixed with champagne and light gold underlays portray a rich dimension that mesh well with the outdoors. For your Groom and your bridal party, consider khaki suits, subtle plaid or patterned ties and pocket-squares – even suspenders. Your girls in flowly chiffon or lace gowns in Navy would blend perfectly with your theme.

Décor

When you start planning your décor, invitations and favors, consider beginning with invites that contain wispy calligraphy. Websites like Vistaprint allow you to create custom invitations, save the date cards, thank you’s, name cards and several other goods at a relatively good price. Let your flowers embrace your natural surroundings with a mixture of wildflowers, burlap ribbons and vintage accents. Integrate sunflowers, daisies, mums in addition to other wild flowers kept together by a burlap strip with a lace overlay for the perfect detail. Don’t be afraid to involve these flower choices on your tables at your reception or along the aisle you walk down. On your tables you also have the freedom of mix matching textures and tones – the more unique the better!

Music

For music, your food and most importantly your wedding cake don’t feel like you have to go overboard with an Americana wedding. Whether you prefer a band or a DJ, go over a loose playlist with them. It’s a must that they play your special requests for your wedding song, Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dance, in addition to any others. Aside from those sentimental songs, for your rustic wedding consider a mix of old and new, country and rock & roll. The music will be fun and entertaining which will pursue your guests to get on the dance floor.

Wedding Menu & Cake

For the menu, gather all of your summer outdoor FAVES. Sangria, pulled pork, chicken, salads, potatoes, baked beans, craft beers & more!! Have the caterer dress up the presentation if you want your rustic wedding to be more on the fancier side. Your wedding cake should be the flavor of your choosing, maybe you and your spouse to be have a mutual fave. For your desserts, the more homemade the better- apple pies, rich buttercream cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and fruit cobblers.

To Conclude the Night

In conclusion of your wedding consider a sparkler exit for you newlyweds, a firework show or even a bonfire! This is a fun idea that will involve your guests and make for amazing photographs.
