“We loved with a love that was more than love.” – Edgar Allan Poe
Valentine’s Day has just passed and we couldn’t be more inspired by the true love of those around us – celebs, friends, family & our #DYFbrides! Learning the stories of others is often a tool or motivation to create a new lifestyle, plan your dream wedding, decorate your home, and even learn new and exciting adventures to take with your LOVE.
Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren informed the world this week that they will be adopting a child from Africa AND welcoming a new baby into the world!! We couldn’t be more excited. Here is their LOVE story!!
Thomas wrote one of his latest hits, “Die A Happy Man” about his beloved wife Lauren. This song is a story about a man needing nothing more than his “crazy love” for his wife. This song became one of country’s most played tunes for more than six weeks straight, also earning an ACM Award for Single Record of the Year.
Rhett’s love life is nothing short of inspiring! He and his wife Lauren have known each other since they were in first grade in Valdosta, Georgia. They attended church camp together when they were 13 and briefly dated when they were 15. Thomas told Taste of Country that though their first attempt at a relationship didn’t work, they still remained best friends.
In their late teens, Lauren and Thomas were each in serious relationships with other people; Thomas admits they each almost married different people to CBS This Morning. His (at the time) future Father-In-Law gave Thomas the push to really pursue Lauren, which he did, her previous relationship ended, they reunited and six months later were married at age 22.
Thomas’ father, country songwriter, Rhett Akins, said the wedding left little doubt that the couple is “beyond in love.” “When I saw them stare at each other the entire 20 minutes they were saying their vows, it’s like these two people are meant to be together.”
The couple took their honeymoon to Oahu, and little did they know they would be back to the island’s north shore in 2015 to shoot the music video for his song “Die A Happy Man.”
Lauren isn’t one to take advantage of the spotlight, but Thomas knew she had to be casted since the song was written about her and their love story. Rhett tells People, everything about the barefoot dancing, flirting and impromptu kissing, is real. Their relationship is honest, playful, and loyal – they couldn’t be more in love with one another. Thomas told CBS, “We love to let people in on our lives and be an example of what it means to be in love.”
He is up for THREE ACM Awards this year including Album of the Year! The show will air on Sunday, April 3 on CBS at 8pm.
